I do not know of any transcription work, but you may check into the Stanislaus Historical Soc. I believe the Oakdale library has the past Leader issues on micro film. Try www.oakdaleleader.com Good luck Bill
I cannot find the original inquiry on this item but will send a "reply to all" in hopes that it makes contact with the interested party. The Oakdale Museum & History Center has entered into an 11,000-entries data base an index of all obituaries from the Oakdale Leader from 1884 (beginning) to 1970 and once finding the correct issue, the obit can be copied from the history center's complete file of the Oakdale Leader on microfilm. The years from 1970-1990 have not been done due to lack of volunteers but can be searched if a "good" death date is available. Secondly, beginning about 1980, the history center has a 4x6" card file with obits removed and pasted from the Oakdale Leader and Modesto Bee for those passing away in Oakdale. Those seeking this information are incouraged to contact the Oakdale Museum & History Center at [email protected] Have a good day Glenn Burghardt Director
