Funeral services were conducted Monday, with Rev. Roy E. Wilsonk pastor of the Community Methodist Church officiating. Bhend, a native of Switzerland, was 79 years old and came to California in 1888. With his family, he made his home just north of Newman for many years. He is survived by his wife, Sophie; two daughters, Mrs. Emma Pearce and Mrs. Vera Allen of Sutter Creek; and three sons.
