The Oakdale Museum & History Center has all Oakdale newspapers from the beginning up to 1990 on microfilm. The museum also has a database index of these obits for these microfilms from beginning to 1970, containing 11,000 entries. In addition, the museum has an index card file (approx. 5,000) on obits from 1985 to present. A lack of volunteer help is keeping us from indexing the films from 1971-1990. Inquiries can be emailed to [email protected] For prior to 1971 and after 1985 a name is all that is needed. For others, an approximate date of death is needed to look in microfilms. When obit is found, a typed copy will be provided for those on microfilm. A scanned copy will be provided for those on index card. Donations are greatly appreciated by not required.
