Born in Weaverville, Trinity County, she taught school in that county, in San Bernardino County, San Luis Obispo County, Santa Cruz County and San Francisco. Following her marriage, she moved to Oregon where she lived until moving to Denair 23 years ago. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mrs. Hillis leaves a daughter, Marie Boothe of Turlock; five sons, Frank and Malcolm of Denair, Charles of Grants Pass, Ore., Henry of Oakland and Robert Hillis of Eureka, Humboldt County; 21 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
