Crandell, a former resident of the Newman-Stevinson area for four years prior to moving to Modesto three years ago, passed away Sunday morning in a hospital in that city after a lengthy illness. A native of Arkansas, she was 90 years old. Her husband, the late Thomas D. Crandell, passed away in November 1956. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning in the Davis-Hansen Funeral Chapel at Gustine, with Mr. Wayne L. Wright, presiding minister of Jehovah's Witnesses, Newman, conducting the rites. Interment was in Hills Ferry Cemetery. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ola Bernhardt of Modesto, Mrs. Hester Ford of McCallister, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Frances Williams of Corpus Christi, Texas; four sons, Melvin of Clayton, Oklahoma, Willie of Gustine, Carl of Mulberry, Arkansas and Harold Crandell of Salinas; and 49 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
