Hi Janette, The CA death index actually starts in July 1905....1905-1929 is on film, 1930-1999 is online..... Hills Ferry is the name of the cemetery in Newman and an area in that part of the county which is kind of southwest of Turlock over toward Interstate 5 (Turlock is on 99)..... 1930-39 CADI is on line http://www.vitalsearch-ca.com/gen/ca/_vitals/cadeathm.htm here's a volunteer that can check the Turlock Journal, if it was published the year of his death, when you've verified the death date.... Andrews, Pat (obits Turlock) E-mail Address(es): holt1@thevision.net here's someone that can verify the date from the cemetery book recently published......maybe she can check to see if Maren is buried there also..... The obituary won't have his parents list unless they were still living when he died or they were prominent and maybe pioneers .....you really need to get details from his death certificate, either with a transription or purchasing the actual certificate. Have you verified his death date through a lookup in the CA death index? I checked the 1910 census index and he is not listed in Stanislaus county that year..... Is there anyone in the Modesto area who could look up a Homestead deed for me. I am not even sure of the year but would say between 1920-1924 approximately. This would be in the name of Felix Jimenez/Jiminez and wife Guadalupe "Lupe" and in Riverbank area. If this indeed can be found, would you be willing to find out the costs etc of copies. This is for my 6 children as the above named persons were their late grandparents. They know nothing of the grandparents except their names. The grandfather (Felix) had passed away in 1942 long before I ever met the family. We were very fortunate to have known the grandmother but she passed away in 1982. They evidently had come to California from Arizona, around 1920 or so, and before that we have been told they were originally from Old Mexico. This list has been the greatest as you have helped me with obituaries for their uncles etc. Any help anyone can give me will be gratefully appreciated. Thank you.
