    1. [CASTANIS] California Cemetery Projects
    2. Margie
    3. I recieved the following from Peggy at SSCDDMH... I am going to call Lori Monday. Marge Thank you for your email to Senator Chesbro regarding the upcoming hearing on 11/16. The hearing begins at 1:30pm. We will first hear from two other states who have undertaken restoration projects, followed by the State Department of Mental Health and the State Department of Developmental Services who will testify about the historic use and current status of California graveyards at these institutions, and finally we will hear from the CA Memorial Project about their efforts to begin restoration efforts in California. If you are unfamilar with this project, you may want to contact them (Lori Sheppard at 1-800-776-5746). Following these witnesses, we will take public testimony, at which time, we would be happy to hear from either or both of you. The Committee would be very interested to learn what you know about Stockton Developmental Center. If you have documentation, you can provide ahead of time, that would be great -- even if its only a bit more detailed description that you could send my by email. Please let me know if you plan on attending and testifying and I'll make sure you get a slot. Surnames: Chavez Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZW.2ADI/2002 Message Board Post: I am seeking my Father Joseph Guevara Chavez last seen in CA. I believe he was born in 11-Mile Corner,AZ. in 1945+ or - a year, & was the youngest of 9 brothers and sisters. He married my Mother Sharon Ann Coelho when she was 16, she was born Jan. 31, 1945, she was Catholic, my Father must have been 18 or 19. They had my older brother Joel G. in 1964 in CA, me Yvonne Marie born 11-09-66 in Sacramento, CA, & Susan Elain born in Stockton? in 1968 & Rachel Anita, born in Chulavista? in 1970. When I was 4, we were all kidnapped from our Dad, taken to OR. & our names were changed to McGuire, so he couldn't find us. He deserves to know what happened, no strings attached. PLEASE, GOD BLESS YOU, IF YOU CAN HELP US. We were denied any information from our mother, whom we now have no connection with. She is still living in OR in Junction City & is now Sharon Clark. The odds tell me that we have to still have relatives probably in AZ., maybe CA, or Mexico or N.M. I am adding! pictures of my Dad & Mom when they got married in CA. THANK YOU!

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZW.2ADI/2001 Message Board Post: Hello,I need some guidence please. I think I have pinpointed the final resting place of my Great Uncle, Melvin B. Haley, Sr.The information that I have come across states that he died 2 AUG 1937 in Modesto and is buried in Modesto Citizens Cemetery. Does this mean that the county buried him. If so, would there be some sort of notice in a local Modesto newspaper? Would there have been a mortuary or funeral home involved or would he have just 'passed through' the county coronor's office?Would there be a death certificate for this individual? The CA vital records for deaths that is currently online only goes back to 1940. If there is a death certificate, could someone pleasedo a look up at a local library and find the certificate number for me? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.Regards,Holly Nix<hdnix@webtv.net>
