I have the death certificate of Francisco Jimenez, my gggrandfather) however the names of his parents aren't noted. So I'm at a roadblock. Maybe we have a common relative who dates further back. I have found info. that places my ggrandfather Francisco Jimenez at these places in Mex.: San Miguel de Horcasitas, Sonora; Altar, Sonora(1883), Arispe, Sonora. Francisco married Guadalupe Romero in 1874, Tucson, AZ; died Jan. 1913, Tucson, AZ. He was a mason by trade, so were his sons. My gradfather Braulio Jimenez was well known as a mason contractor in Tucson. What is your great grandfather's and your father's name? My father's name is Gilbert Jimenez. I've always wondered where the given name Gilbert originated in the family line. I noticed that Prosperio Jimenez had a son named Gilbert Jimenez. Do you know if he was named after a Jimenez relative. I'll list the first names of the Jimenez offspring that have been passed down: Joaquin, , Braulio,Alfredo, Rudolfo, Ramon, Mateo Francisco, Gustavo, Alejandro, Luisa, Maria, Ramona, - these are Francisco's children Teresa, Olivia, Claudio, Andres Federico, Joaquin, Gilbert- these are my grandfather Braulio's children. Do we have any common names?

Natalie, >From the info I received from BarryCollett@aol.com he gave me some info on Henry Collett, the father of James and John Henry Collett. Henry Collett b. l824 was living in Clay County, Red Bird Creek, KY his entire life, but then moved down to Jefferson County, TN in l860. He was there a few years, then moved to Quincy, IL., where his oldest son, William b. l846, enrolled in the Civil War. In l865/l866, the family moved to Keokuk County, IA. Barry Collett was the great grandson of Barry Oliver Collett,sr. He sure has helped me alot in my genealogy. I believe his great grandfather was a bro. to Roy Albert Collett from whom you are descended. See, John Henry Collett is the lineage from whence Barry came from. He has a lot of info where Henry Collett descended from, going back to Dillon Asher and his wife, I believe Sarah Collett. Quite a history. I hope this info will be of some help to you.
Can someone tell me what the SPCA is? I have an obituary on a person from Turlock and the obituary says that remembrances may be made to the SPCA of Stanislaus County, 4733 Yosemite Blvd. Modesto. Would like to know, what the SPCA stands for, is it something like a charity organization or what? Thanks, Wayne >From NC

Hi everyone: I just got home from the Hearing on the state hospital cemeteries that was held in Napa today.. you all missed a great meeting & a very thoughtfull memorial service... sorry you couldn't make it. There were representatives of several organizations there (including the one below... I will translate my notes this weekend & give a better report)... and they showed what can be done, if you have the support of the governments & the people. There were speakers from all walks of life there.. some had family who were mental patients, some were the patients... they were brave & came forward to tell of the treatment they recieved, and how badly the patients were treated even before they died...very moving. Senator Chesbro was very interested in going forward with the California State Hospital projects... so please support him and the following group... John Rodriguez (sorry, probably not spelled correctly) & another state of CA representative were there.. and promised to work with the Senator & the cemetery groups to find, extract & share ALL the burial records for the Hospital patients. The goal is to RESTORE all the cemeteries with full markers over the years. Support this effort please! Below is a note I recieved from one group.. If you are interested in helping in your area.. call the toll free number and let them know. Marge I am on a coalition of the CNMHC with Protection And Advocacy. The coalition is attempting to restore Calfornia State hospital cemeteries and histories. Stockton State Hospital is one of the cemeteries in the Central Valley area that I am part of to document the history and restore the cemetery. Your research will be very helpful. Thanks. If you would like more information on the project you can call 1-800-626-7447 at the California Network of Mental Health Clients (CNMHC). We will be holding a legislative hearing at Napa State Hospital today from 1 - 5:30 PM if you can join us.
