Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZW.2ADI/878.1.1 Message Board Post: Quite possible. Do you know anything of Frank's ancestry? John Perry (not Jefferson P. as previously posted) Harbert was the son of John L. & Elizabeth (Ellis) Harbert. Other children were (Dr.) Jacob Ellis Harbert; Matthew R. Harbert; Emily Harbert; Ellen; and "Elburty" (Alberta?). Here's what a Goodspeed's bio says of the father: "John Harbert was a native of Kentucky, whence he removed to Cape Girardeau County, MO, and was married in the latter place. Soon after his mariage he removed to McLean County, Ill., and remained about twelve years. He was a farmer and mechanic. From Illinois he went to Iowa, but three years later removed to Southwest Missouri, and located in Barry County. Later he removed to Newton County, and died in Neosho in 1862." John Perry was born in Iowa January 7, 1843, and went to California in 1861. Think it's safe to assume, although his obit doesn't say, he also lived in MO - Barry/Newton Co. - with his parents when he was a boy. After living in Calif. for a short time he went to Arkansas where he remained until 1884 when he returned to California and opened a general store at Waterford.

Hi I am sending this to my Calif Contacts, so some of you who are individuals will have to delete this note, sorry, but am short on time, so this was quickest way to do this today. I have about 15 requests in the recorder's office to transcribe. I was going to get them today, but a family necessity has pre-empted my plans. I will get these Monday or Tuesday. If you are waiting for a reply from me.. it will be Wednesday before I can get the dct's out to you. Also, if you requested an obit lookup only.. I have 4 here on my desk, will upload those results tonight, or Saturday. I will be going to the Library tomorrow with the kids, and will try for a couple more from the 1800's then. It will be a learning experience for all, I am sure (9, 4, 3 yr olds)! Marge in Lodi, CA (supposed to be a wet weekend.. but so far, so good!)

I was wondering if someone would mind checking on an obituary for me? I always thought that after my gg grandfather died, that his wife, Ida Lee, went back to Texas, but I recently checked the CA Death Index and there she was! Her name was: Ida Lee Hedges Brown b. 6 Oct. 1863 KY. d. 17 Feb. 1949 Stanislaus Co. CA. I believe she was a resident of Modesto. She was my gg grandfather James Brown's, 2nd wife. Thank you all so very much! Kathleen....from Vancouver, WA.
