Is there a book with the history of Oakdale. I was told that my Great + Grandfather and his brothers had a ranch in Oakdale and built the first railroad from Stockton to Oakdale to bring stock and feed from there ranch. These brothers owned the Fisher stage line in Stockton. I have learned to question everything. I am looking for decendants of John Merrick HARRAY (b 1864 Orkney Islands, Scotland, d 1953 Sonoma County, CA.). John emigrated to the US from Orkney in about 1885. I believe he was a blacksmith. John's sister was my great-grandmother (Jane Harray Firth) who emigrated to Michigan. John married Cora Boyd, but I do not know where. They had 4 sons: John, Earl Merwin, Stanley John and Wesley Boyd. I think John was the eldest son. Earl Merwin was born 1896 in California and died in 1945 in Stanislaus County,CA. He was married to ? Shull and Emma Marie Smith and had four children. Stanley John was born 1903 California and died in 1985 Sonoma, CA. Wesley Boyd Harray was born in 1905 in California and died in 1980 Santa Clara, CA.
