He was married to Donna Hinks and had 3 children. I am the second child. Jerry was living in San Lorenzo at the time of his death. His mother told me he was buried in LoneTree Cemetery in Hayward, CA. I have the original articles of his death that were printed in the Oakland Tribune. Jerry's mother and step-father had a dairy ranch in Oakdale, CA at the time of his death. I know this post is a bit late but hope it is helpful. Rod Giddens
The Oakdale Museum & History Center has all Oakdale newspapers from the beginning up to 1990 on microfilm. The museum also has a database index of these obits for these microfilms from beginning to 1970, containing 11,000 entries. In addition, the museum has an index card file (approx. 5,000) on obits from 1985 to present. A lack of volunteer help is keeping us from indexing the films from 1971-1990. Inquiries can be emailed to [email protected] For prior to 1971 and after 1985 a name is all that is needed. For others, an approximate date of death is needed to look in microfilms. When obit is found, a typed copy will be provided for those on microfilm. A scanned copy will be provided for those on index card. Donations are greatly appreciated by not required. My mother Alice Frances Hendrickson (Clark) graduated from Turlock High School, class of 1923, and attended a 40th year class reunion in 1963. I have a photograph of the men and women at the reunion taken by Verne Walter, a local photographer. It's a group photo showing probably everyone at the reunion. I've had the photo scanned into a tiff file, and would be willing to e-mail it to anyone who'd like to have it. We may need to convert it to a jpg, since the file is over 10 Megs, but we shall see. Let me know off list. Dave Clark -- Dave Clark Visit my website http://home.earthlink.net/~dc1999/
Just wondering if your Issac WILLIAMS could be related to Isaac WILLIAMs b. 12 January 1867 MO? He had a brother James and some of the children were b. in AR but lived in OK when young. Later some of their descendants moved to CA and settled here in the valley. Depending on how early, info may show up as far away as Sacramento or San Francisco. Real early stuff may have been in San Francisco Call (do not have URL handy; try a Google) If you're looking for info such as births, deaths, et al, you may have luck searching at URL: <http://www.newspaperabstracts.com/index.php> Site provides info as to what papers have been reviewed and extracts made by volunteers. Site has a limited search capability. It is being updated regularly so would suggest keeping track of dates/papers visited so you don't have to go through previously reviewed extracts on re-visits. Surnames: MONTGOMERY Classification: Death Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZW.2ADI/3676.2 Message Board Post: Modesto Bee, Thursday, September 18, 1997, p B-2 FATAL CRASH CLOSES HIGHWAY 132 NINE HOURS By Daryl Farnsworth, Bee Staff Writer VERNALIS - A newspaper carrier was killed early Wednesday when her car collided with a tractor-trailor rig while she was doing her eearly morning route in rural west Stanislaus County, the California Highway Patrol reported. Linda Montgomery, 46, of Tracy died in the 3:50 a.m. crash that occurred at Highway 132 and McCracken Road east of Vernalis. She delivers the Tracy Press. The CHP said Mongomery was driving a 1993 Ford Mustang north on McCracken at about 55 mph when she went through the stop sign at Highway 132. Montgomery jammed on her brakes, but her car skidded through the intersection with Highway 132, where her car crashed under the trailer of a big rig going east on Highway 132, CHP officer Pius Braun said. The driver of the tractor-trailer, Jose Bobadilla, 35 of Fresno, was not injured. Investigators said they found rubber bands on the victim's lap, which they said indicated that she may have been folding newspapers and putting rubber bands around them while driving. The crash closed Highway 132 for nearly nine hours before the wreckage was removed and the investigation completed. Braun said traffic was detoured on nearby roads, causing delays for morning commuters. There was not a obituary for Linda in the Modesto Bee, but very likely there would be a story in the Tracy Press or the Stockton Record, probably in the September 19, 1997 edition. If you go to the website for the Stockton-San Joaquin Library, they will give you instructions on how to request an obituary from their Reference Department. There is a minimum charge of $2, but not necessarily per obituary. Judy Ewbank
