Hi Linda, Well, if Asa's relatives are there then you have found your Cass line. That is great! Grandma Augusta (Wagner) Bruce was born in 1869 and when she died in 1974 at age 105 she was the last survivor of the Peshtigo fire. They survivied by going into the river and staying under wet blankets where the smoke was not so thick. Grandma said her mother would put the palm of her hand under grandma's chin and pinch her nose shut with two fingers and go under each time the blankets started to dry out, staying under as long as possible and thoroughly wetting them.
