Hello Tim, My one Cass connection is Mary Elizabeth Cass (b. abt. 1791 Surry Co., NC.) She married abt. 1791 Henry M. Angell (b. 1787 Surry Co.) They moved to Tennessee and had one son, John Jefferson Angell. Mary died in childbirth 7-25-1813. I would love to know who her parents were. Do you have any information on this Mary? Thanks so much. Ann Winslow
Dear Ann Winslow, You send this: My one Cass connection is Mary Elizabeth Cass (b. abt. 1791 Surry Co., NC.) She married abt. 1791 Henry M. Angell (b. 1787 Surry Co.) They moved to Tennessee and had one son, John Jefferson Angell. If Mary was b. abt 1791, how could she marry abt. 1791? You said Henry M. Angell (b. 1787 Surry Co.), then he married when he was 4 years old. I only have one Mary Elizabeth Cass. She was the daughter of Moses Cass and Lucy Jones. Mary was born Mar.20,1811 and was married to Martin Chathem. Let me know what the right dates are and I'll see if I have anything. Cass Researchers, Bowman Cass (1740-1785), was born in England(?), and died in Wilkes Co.,NC. He married Ann T. Roberts in Surry Co.,NC about 1759. Bowman and Ann had 11 children in NC. Their 11 children were: Elizabeth Cass, b.1760, md. Abram Cook. Matilda Cass, b.1762, md. Isham Harvill. Elisha Cass, b.1765, md. Preshus Johnson. Robert Cass, b. abt 1768, md. Lucy Riley. Ann Cass b. abt.1771, md. Samuel Low. James Cass, b. abt 1772, md Sarah Larson(?). John Cass b. abt 1774, md. Rebecah ______. Moses Cass, b. abt 1775, md. Lucy Jones. Ezekiel Cass, b. abt 1777, md Mary Johnson. Samuel Cass, b. abt 1779, md. Sary Feltes on Oct.15,1816, in Wilkes Co.,NC. Winfred Cass, b.abt 1781. My line goes down through Elizabeth Cass that married Abram Cook. They married on Jul.17,1781 in Wilkes Co.,NC, and had 6 children in NC. The other Cass lines may have also stayed in NC. Of Abram Cook and Elizabeth Cass 6 children, the one line I know of, was a daughter named Amy Cook (abt 1785-Oct.1869). She married Abedinago Sanders (abt.1776-May 7,1835) on Aug.11,1807 in Wilkes Co.,NC. Are there any cousins out there? Thank you. Tim Tim Mattingly [email protected]
i am looking for gov. louis cass related to robbins or jacques line. pat
Cass researchers, My Cass line was in Wilkes Co.,NC in the 1700's. I have Elizabeth Cass, born about 1760, and married to Abram Cook on Jul.17,1781 in Wilkes Co. I'm not sure of the dates for Abram Cook, but they had 6 children in the Wilkes Co.,NC area. Larkin, Aaron, Isaac, Amy, Richard and Wyatt. I have some dates and spouses for the children. I have Elizabeth Cass father as Bowman Cass, with a (?). I am hoping someone has been working on this line. If you have anything, please let me know. Thanks. Tim Tim Mattingly [email protected]
Could you copy and attach the page from the Berry book in a direct e-mail? [email protected] I would very much appreciate it, as that is quite a change to make in the tree without the actual documentation. I am curious as to his "compelling evidence", does he say what it was other than the "History of Worchester County"? Sure wish I had a copy of the book. I have a family history of the Cass(e) family written by Dr. Donald J. Berry & published in 1992. He indicates that the History of Worcester Co., MA indicates that Jonathan Gove Cass was the son of Samuel & Mercy Sanborn Cass. He acknowledges that Savage wrote that he was the son of Joseph but the compelling evidence seems to ge Samuel. Nick Farquhar

Hi Rose Marie, I think you are the one that invited me before when I was looking for my Cass relatives. This has been..lets see, last year sometime. I can still get into the site. It's been awhile, what with work, family and health issues. My gg-grandmother, Wilmath Rebecca Green married Stephen Cass, son of David Cass and Reba Wickham. Stephen was born in 1830 and died in 1858 in Nebraska. I've learned a great deal about the Cass family but would like to know about the other side. If it's alright, I'll go ahead and post to the Cass site. Thanks for getting in touch with me. My Great Grandmother, Isabelle (Belle) WHITTY, Welsh married Joseph H. Cass 15 Aug 1886 in Gloucester, Essex, MA. Joseph and Belle went on to have four children, two boys and two girls. First son, Raymond James born 8 Nov 1886,Married Margaret Laughlin, and had one son Raymond JR. Second son, Joseph Sumner, born 5 Dec 1894, married Mary W Toomey; they had two sons Sumner and James. Are there any Descendants of Joseph and Belles two sons, Raymond James and Joseph Sumner out there? I am trying to put this family together again. Joseph H Cass was born, as close as I can find, in 1863, River Inhabitants, Richmond County, Nova Scotia, Canada. His two Sons, Raymond J and Joseph S were born in Gloucester, Essex, MA. I will gladly share any information that I have with any Descendants of this couple. I am descended from Belle Whitty and James Welsh. (Belle's first marriage) Lawrence (Larry) Bergeron [email protected] Genealogy is not a hobby it is an obsession!
