Thankyou for your e mail ,yes it is Peter Casper born 1823 ? in Germany I am looking for,we think he was born in Cochem. do you think that your Peter could have been a grandfather or such like, they tended to hand the family names down didn't they?We have heard that there was a big fire in the village of Senheim near Cochem in 1839, all but 7 houses were destroyed as the villagers were working up in the vinyards, thus a lot of documents etc. were lost, maybe this was one of the reasons some of the people decided to travel abroad to start a new life? Our Peter came to England & married here in 1842, so those dates could tie in.It's great to know that there are so many Casper's out there.Ron's parent's died when he was young & he & his brothers were fostered so loosing all trace of their Casper family, we are having great excitment finding out about them. Hope to hear from you again all our best wishes from Ron & Gill C.
We are trying to find the family of Peter Casper, son of Johann Casper born in Germany in the 1820's Can you help please?Best wishes from Ron & Gill Casper in England

But can't find out where he came from. Tried to tie him to the Rowan County NC Caspers, but couldn't do it. There is a possibility he came from Va, as there were Caspers there in the 1700's. Sorry Guys, One mistake I can correct here is the Peter Casper born in 1797 married to Catherine Frick does not belong to this family. He also had no Rosan or son named Peter. I can send a Microsoft word file with the correct information to anyone wanting it but it has to go to you at your email address not through the list. Peter Casper's Grandfather, Peter, His Father, Henry and His Uncle, Adam all have wills online at the rootsweb Rowan County Archives site. Please check these out as well. I have posted this a couple times sorry if it is becoming a pain for those of you who already went to check. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nc/rowanc.htm Happy Hunting, Charlotte Ann ----- Original Message ----- From: Steve Casper <scasper@inteliport.com> To: < Sent: Thursday, September 02, 1999 7:54 AM Subject: more info > Hi cousins, > > Here's another Casper who is lost and need to be found. Thank you for the information. It is always great to hear from anyone with even one little tid bit I don't have.. . or just another "cousin" You do have a mistake in Henry's children. His Peter was born in 1797. The Information you have is for Conrad and Catherine's Peter. Conrad (1750-1785) and Catherine Anna Maria: b. 7/14//1772 in New Jersey and baptism 8/3/1772 at German reformed church, Elizabeth: b. ? Peter : 1781-1860 Married Esther Fulenwider. ( More information on these two if needed) Magdalana Elizabeth : b. 8/3/1784 I don't have much on John's family..There is a paragraph in the Heritage of Rowan County about him and the Lower stone Church.. Some other Census records and He is mentioned in the will of Peter Casper . Henry Abt1760 -1832.& Elisabeth Hartline Peter 1797-1855 Married Catherine Frick ( My Line so I have a lot more on it) Elizabeth Caty ( Catherine) Magtalana Adam George Conrad John Jacob David (All of the children and his wife were listed in Henry's will.) Adam: His will was probated February 1846 and is also posted online His will lists his children as: Andrew Catherine Jacob Peter Conrad Polly Christina Elizabeth Besides some of the records I have researched and gotten, I have the books: "the Heritage of Rowan County" , "The Rowan Story" , "North Carolina Will's a testators index " "History of Alexander, Union, and Pulaski Counties IL. Hi Cynthia & other Listers, I sent most of what you asked about before but will do so again with a little better information. My First Official record of the Peter Casper & Ann Mary ( Anna Maria) family I have yet to find is in the New Jersey Parish records of The German Reformed Church 1766 baptism of their Daughter Eva (Eve). My grandfather always said they were Pennsylvania Dutch so We will see in the future if that pans out. He was born a month after his father died and His mother also died when he was young so There was very little family information passed down. His older sisters raised him. As for the Peter Casper family> Children were: Conrad- abt 1750-1785, John - dates Unknown, Henry -abt.1760-1832, Adam -b. date unk - 1845, Eve-1765-unk. The church records show them still there in NJ in 1770 When Conrad and Ann Mary witnessed a baptism. What I have read but not documented the Date is the family moved to NC after the Rev War. The Census records for Rowan County pick them up in NC in 1790. Some of the family moved to Illinois in the early 1800's. To Union County and Pulaski County Illinois. I would be happy to share the information on the descendants with anyone thinking they might be linked. I have found no references to a Johann Casper in Rowan County, Where did they go? Was it in a part of the area that Changed to a new County when they broke it up? I will specify My Caspers of Rowan County were from the Salisbury area in the Rowan County area still in existence. For those not used to the Rowan County NC area, Old Rowan covered a lot Western North Carolina, also into Eastern Tennessee. to see a map and information on dates of New Counties formation you can go to the rootsweb page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncrowan/ro-oldrowan.htm Hope this helps some of Us merge our families. My first and only Casper that I have been able to find any info on is my grandfather Fred J. Casper who immigrated to the US abt.1897. 1900 census for Texas, indicated he was from Switzerland and was 16 yrs.old at time of immigration. No other known family members came with him. In 1900 he was living in Waller Co., Texas working as railroad section hand, but died in Midfield, Matagorda Co., TX. still working for ??railroad. in 1918 at age 38(?)from world wide influenza epidemic. Wife, Annie (ISAAC), also an immigrant, from Canada, died in 1914,in her mid 30's, cause unknown. They left 6 daughters, all very young. The few still living are in late 80's-early 90's and memories are few. Any help or information regarding this family would be greatly appreciated it. Thanks Claudia Tarlyn
Hello to all, So glad people are starting to share on this list. The information I have is handed down by family and of course will have to be documented.....so I take it now with a grain of salt. My first Casper is Johann Michael CASPER born Argenthal Hunsruck, Germany. No birth date for him. Steve Casper wrote to say that he had a Johann Michael CASPER in Rowan County, NC in 1752!!!!! Maybe we have a hit here. I think it would be helpful to all who read this list, to please show their 1st CASPER and all they know about him or her. Maybe we can get a pattern of migration here and fill in some gaps for each other. Thanks, Cynthia

In the process of trying to find my Samuel Cosper's father, I have collected a lot of information on all the PA & NJ Casper's as they migrated to Ohio and Ill, and Iowa. Would like to share what I have and try to tie in family members of the various generations. Samuel Casper/Cosper b. 13 May 1817 PA, d. 6 Mar 1895 Wapello Co, Iowa. Samuel was married to Susannah Bollinger 13 Jul 1843 in Miami Co, OH. Buried a daughter in Miami Co, OH 1849. Purchased a farm in Wapello Co, Iowa 1853. I do not know names of his sibblings or parents. In the mid 1700's, I have found 4 Casper names- Henrick,John, Peter and Jacob. The Henrick (Kaspar) family migrated to the south and on to Texas, and seems to be well documented. John was in the Revolution War and his children are well documented. Sheila in Alaska has given me the first info on Peter. (Happy to get, btw!) Jacob is the one I have been working on. I have a lot of Census and other info on his family and would be very interested in hearing from anyone working on this line. Jacob Casper died winter of 1821/1822, Venango Co, PA. His children were: Catherine b. c 1775, Margaret b. 14 Jan 1778, John b. 17 Jan 1779, Andrew b. bet 1780-1785, Jacob Jr. b. bet 1782-1788, James b. bet1784-1786, William b. c 1789, Sarah b. c 1790, Isabelle b c1795. My goal is to find my ancestor and hope to get all the families in their individual groups. Need all the help that comes my way. Carolyn Graeser rgraeser@pacifier.com after Oct 1 rgraeser@ctaz.com

Hello everyone, My CASPER line was in NJ in 1766 and moved to NC before 1790. Peter & Ann Mary ( Anna Maria) were members of the German Reformed Church in Alexandria twp. NJ. Their Children are Conrad, Henry, Adam and Eve ( Eva). They show up on the 1790 Rowan County NC. Census. There are several Conrads in this family. This one died and left a young family. I have a little on his line but not much. There are wills for Peter, Henry, and Adam at this page. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nc/rowanc.htm If this particular line is of interest to anyone or you have information to share I would love to hear from you.
