It seems that John and Margaret did remain in Sonoma County, CA. I have found them and several generations. Crosby, however, is not in the 1890 Voters Registration records, or any census 1900+. California death index: COOK, Margaret age 71 Sonoma County 8/3/1915 record 26421 COOK, John age 84 Sonoma County 9/7/1924 record 44580 They had two daughters, Gertrude who married Fred Keppel and Ada, who apparently didn't marry, her death name was Cook, in any event. Please email me directly at [email protected] and I will send you a sheet of references that I found this morning. I am not related to this family, just had the time today to do some online research. Hope this helps. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Friday, October 13, 2006 11:08 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [CASONOMA] Cook Brothers from Ontario to Marin and Sonoma 1870s This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. At the time of his marriage John was living in Valleyford, Sonoma County and he and Margaret returned there and can be found in the 1880 USA census at the LDS. They have, at that point, one daughter Gertrude M cook age 1 year. John was a Miller by trade. A nephew James A Forward, 27 yrs, was also with them as a labourer. 2 John's brother Crosby Cook married Mary Ann Graham Dec 22,1875 in Oxford Tp Leeds Grenville and at that time he as living in Marin Co Ca . He was a dairyman. In 1880 they were enumerated in Tomales, Marin. There were no children enumerated in 1880. Both Cook boys were born in Augusta Tp., Leeds Grenville Co., Ontario I am exploring the Cooks of that area as my GGM was a Cook born nearby in Elizabethtown, Brockville area. Did they stay in Ca? Are their descendents still in the area? More questions than answers! J.
