    3. I am looking for info on John W. Ball who was in Sonoma County in 1870. John was a blacksmith in Ray county MO and Green county MO before 1850. In 1880 John W. Ball, was in Dayton, Butte county, California. Living with the John M household is his sister(?), Mary E. Ball, 21, also born in Missouri in about 1849, which would indicate that the family was part of the "gold rush".
