CO Looks as if the third child is a daughter who was born in CO. Gladys is apparently the child of an unwed mother born in CO, but Adaline, who is barely of childbearing age was born in TX and her sister Daisy was born in CA. That leaves just the third child as the mother of Gladys. [This Gladys seems to be the boarder child with Romintha in 1910 but now she has a last name and her father was born in Nebraska] Since Romintha's status in 1910 was still married, I looked for her husband William: 1910 CA, Humboldt, Rohnerviller twp, page 142A, visit 139 Suratt, John a. 79 widow b. VA, parents born VA, no occupation; Kirby, William 62 widow, b. MI, parents born England, gardener, working out; Murphy, Daisy 22 first marriage 2 children, 1 surviving, b. CA, father born MI, mother born IA Murphy, Leona 2 b. CA, father b. CA, mother b. CA Ok, William and Romintha have separated. Daisy married ?? Murphy, no clue where he might be or who he might be. One living daughter Leona. This appears to be Daisy Kirby, married to a Sholes before her death in 1969. CA death index: SHOLES, DAISY K born 1888 01/01 mother SAWYER FEMALE CA died HUMBOLDT county 1969 11/07 ssn 572-78-9493 age 81 Back to the census for Sholes gives this information: 1920 CA, Humboldt Co., Mattole twp, page 251B, visit 109/111 Sholes, William W. 42 b.
