    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: PLUM Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YW.2ADI/5671.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Judi, My line comes down through Elsie Plum's sister Henrietta. I found the obit for William and have other information on both the Plum's & Dryden's if you'd like. I have yet to get a solid lead on William's parents other than his mother was a Bedell according to the CDI though. Have you had any luck? The Press Democrat August 19, 1941 William H. Plum, who fought with Admiral David Farragut in the battle of Mobile Bay, on of the decisive sea battles of the Civil War, died Sunday at a Santa Rosa hospital. He was 93 years of age. Plum had been retired from business here for years. In good health most of the time, he was stricken ill about three weeks ago and removed to the hospital. Coming to Santa Rosa more than half a century ago, Plum operated a baggage and express service here and for years had charge of hauling baggage between the depots and the Occidental hotel. His horse-drawn express wagon can be remembered by many of the old time residents of the city. As a youth he had lived in New Jersey and with the start of the Civil War, joined the navy. He accompanied Admiral Farragut when he was assigned to the west gulf blockading squadron. Survivors include his widow, Mrs Nancy Plum and the following sons and daughters: William H. Plum, Jr and Bessie Plum of Santa Rosa, James M. Plum of Plumas County and Mrs Elsie Pratt of Fresno. Plum had resided in recent years on Cleveland Ave. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon from the chapel at the Welti Funeral Parlors under the auspices of Theodore Roosevelt post of the American Legion with the Rev. O. V. Wilkison officiating. Interment will follow in the Odd Fellows cemetery.
