I am in Australia and have researched to the first generation to arrive in Aust - he was Michael (spelt also Michele & Michiele. He was born in 1837 in Canton, Ticino, Switzerland,(parents/siblings unknown)he sailed from Liverpool, England arriving in the Colony of Victoria Australia in 1856. It is very likely that some of his family members migrated to California and I am hoping there may be somone that may be able to help out.
