It is also possible that, if William died after Elizabeth (I don't remember the dates) he might have been alone and poor. In that case, he could have been buried in the pauper section of Calvary, which has even fewer records. Santa Rosa was never a part of Mendocino County. Between 1850 and 1860 Mendocino County was administered from Santa Rosa and there have been some boundary changes. Unless you have evidence that Kidd actually lived in Mendocino County, I would not spend a lot of time checking there. He could just as easily be buried in Lake, Marin, or Napa counties. We confirmed with them that William was not buried with her or on the grounds. They thought it a bit odd that the two would be buried in different cemeteries, but again, they have no record of William Kidd being buried there. Should I maybe extend my search Mendocino County, since Santa Rosa once belonged to that area? Regards, WK Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. However, there are some other Kidds buried in the county -- Agnes Ann in Rural Cemetery 1896; Infant Son (1896) and David W. (1908) in Santa Rosa Odd Fellows; Abigail W. (1887) and Peleg (1865) in Shiloh; Elizabeth (1892) in Santa Rosa Calvary Cemetery. Any of those names ring a bell? If you can identify a relative, your William might be buried with them. Press Democrat at the time mentioned his address off of Tenth Street in Santa Rosa. It continues with him moving to the area in 1872. Not sure what further details would assist in locating his burial. The death certificate doesn't mention anything either. Calls to local Cemet have produced nothing. There are several wagon train captains associated with the Sonoma County and other people who traveled with your family located in the county. The Healdsburg Museum keeps an index list of names which is helpful, while the library has some items online. I do not believe most of the important newspapers are on line but a few to consider are the Russian River Flag, Sotoyme Scimitar and Healdsburg Enterprise. Hopefully you will hear from others who can help you with a look up. You may want to add Josiah Morin to the board. Several wagon train captains have connections to areas near Healdsburg. Most of the newspaper items are not yet on-line and you may find more about him at the Healdsburg Library or Museum. He is not the only one who seems to have been overlooked. Irregardless of whether some people liked some of these men, they had a huge impact on Missouri and CA. I am not related but believe they should not be overlooked. Dear List, I'm looking for more information on Pearl Hassett Brown (1888-1979) and her husband Cherles C. "Charley" Brown (1875-1929?) who lived in Healdsburg in the 1910's and 20's and in Santa Rosa for the rest of their lives. I'm reseaching Charles' family and have a fair bit on information on their movements from Parkersburg, W.Va. to Craig, Neb. and to Puyallup, Wash.; where I believe Pearl & Charles oldest Child, Eva (1906-1990) (later Mrs. Peter Bassignanni) was born. Pearl and Charley's other children were: Wesley (1909-1972) Clinton (1911-1981) Virgil (1916-?) Thanks for any information you can provide. Paul
