His name was Pope Langham Hays. though, the last name is spelled Hayes in the SSDI. he died March 3, 1995 in Sonoma County, CA. He was born November 3, 1927. I live in Texas and can't really get out to California to do the research myself. I'd really appreciate it if someone could look this up for me. Also, the pattern you describe is an important pattern for Healdsburg, also called Mendocino Township. Many of the early settlers of Healdsburg and nearby areas had very, very close ties. There is a pattern of going from Virginia through S. Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, into Missouri and then to Sonoma county. It looks like your family was in early Missouri which may put them in with this early interconnected group of explorers. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. You may already know that much of the Skaggs Springs area is under Sonoma Resevoir now. Some of the people that that were buried there were relocated to a cemetery. I think it is something like Olive Hill. The Healdsburg Museum has a lot on the Skaggs Springs resort. If he worked there, you may be in luck. Also, there is a lot of information on microfiche at the Museum that is not online. This includes several newspapers. The Russian River Flag,Sotoyme Scimitar, Healdsburg Tribune, etc. Also, try the Healdsburg Library and the Sonoma County Library located in Santa Rosa which has an entire genealogical section. You may already know that Mendocino township is now called Healdsburg. My family never moved from Dry Creek for over 40 years and yet the documents for them can be found with many names including Pacific House, Analy, Cozzens, etc. Good luck. Whitney George's obit? She died 23 June 1943 in Santa Rosa. I believe she is buried in the old IOOF cemetery on Franklin with/near her mother Sarah Hipshire/Whitney 1869-1940 (her CA death record lists her as Sara George). Margaret's obit mentions her older sister (half-sister, different mothers) Frances Whitney Griffith who I am also researching and hoping to obtain information. Anything on these three women is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. One for a Walter Albert Lloyd from Minnesota(which is him) and one for someone from Pennsylvania, Which isn't him. He married my grandmother in 42, had my dad in 45 and soon went to jail. After 1945 my grandpa was arrested and was in San Quentin for a few years. He came back to visit the family but my dad's grandparents raised him.
