Thanks for responding. Yes. My father is the son of Jose Carlos (Charles) West who was the son of William Mark West. Names seems to shift around, so I'm assuming that William Mark is Mark. The info that I have is from a lovely old handwritten 3 page history of the Ortegas. I can send a transcription if you'd be interested. It says that Jose Vicente Ortega married the widow of Lazaro Pina (spelled that say) who was Maria Ignacia Pacheco before her marriage. I found some verification of this info yesterday from another source. I'm trying to get any information available on both Jose Vicente and Maria, but they seem to be ghosts right now. Thsnks again... I will see if there is anything in my paper files but that will take longer. The Peña and Piña families are often confused. The Peñas came up through New Mexico to California; the Peña Adobe Regional Park in Vacaville was theirs. The Piña family migrated through western Mexico and up the California coast to what is now Sonoma County. How are you descended from Mark West? I've just started down a path that it seems you and others ahve been on for quite a while. I am a great- greatgrandaughter of William Mark West and Maria Vasquez. I'm trying to get information about Maria Ignacia Pacheco who married Lazaro Pena and who was widowed shortly thereafter. She was remarried to Jose Vicente Ortega and had three children (Maria De Jesus, Innocencia, and Vicente). Have you anything you might be able to share to help me out? I've come up blank on the census and marriage records through ancestry. Thanks! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Do you have any information on which quarter of the section this is? (A section of land contains 640 acres, one square mile, so 160 acres is a quarter-section.) The property is on what is today Parker Hill Road north of Santa Rosa. FWIW, the 1877 "New Historical Atlas of Sonoma County" does not show Mr. Parrent as a landowner in that area. Author: rdavis944 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.california.counties.sonoma/4047.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Levi Tingley Davis was my great grandfather, my grandfather was Delos Darwin Davis. Delos was married to Florence Virginia Spitzer and Levi was married to Celia Clarke Sloan. I suspect that Levi and Celia might both have been married before although Celia was not very old when she married Levi (around 1861 in Oregon). Levi was about twenty-six years older than Celia so he may have had a prior marriage. I found a grave site for Delass Frances Davis who I believe was a twin to Delos Darwin, both had the same birthdate. There was also a grave site for Chilton White Davis. Chilton is also a family name, White might be a maternal name, but I haven't been able to find anything. I have additional information and would willingly exchange for anything you might know.
