Now that is cleared up, the 1860 Arkansas census had slave schedules and some of the St. Francis County Izards were slave holders. I think John G had at least one and Mark W. Izard may have had several.

Her widow's pension gives her marriage date of July 22, 1866 to Mr. Ontis in that county, but the location must be in error. Has anyone come across this in a marriage list somewhere? This family were farmers/sheep ranchers on 1870-1880 censuses. Looking for more detail about location and exactly when he bought his land in that county. Does anyone find a mention of them in local histories? Have local newspapers from that era been indexed and where would I find that? By 1890 the Ontis family had moved to Booneville, Mendocino County and in mid July 1898 John Ontis had severe heat stroke and went insane, dying a few months later. I'm hoping local histories and newspapers may flesh out this family further and sure appreciate any help offered.
