Leona, I looked throughout the CD from Heritage Books for any mention of James or Elizabeth COX. Their names were not in the Sonoma County Cemetery record 1846-1921 or Sonoma County CA Death Records 1873-1905 or Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery 1853-1997 or Sonoma County Reconstructed 1890 Census or Sonoma County Coroner's Inquests 1852-1898 or Sonoma County Homestead Declarations I check the 1905+ CA death records and didn't find them. And I can only find James Cox in the 1850 census at home, and then again in 1860 in Sonoma county, single. Guess this is not much help at all, sorry. I would be interested to know where I can get information from that source: "Sonoma County California's Coroner's Inquests, 1852-1896 (1991)" [which is on the CD put out on Heritage Books Code # 1831] I have been searching for what happened to Mary/Polly [Stubblefield]-Kincaid after the birth of their third child c.1856 in the Napa-Sonoma area of CA. Her husband is found in the 1860 MO census with a new wife & children. Any ideas or suggestions are always welcome mema ----- Original Message ----- From: "Leona" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, February 28, 2006 12:36 AM Subject: [CASonoma] James C Cox and Elizabeth Frost Cox >I am looking for death dates for James C Cox (b 1841 TX) and his wife >Elizabeth Frost Cox (b 1852 MO). > > Can someone please look in the following CD to see if they are mentioned? > "Sonoma County California's Coroner's Inquests, 1852-1896 (1991)" which is > on the CD put out on Heritage Books Code # 1831. > > Thank you! > Leona >

As a registered professional quality engineer at Optical Coating Laboratories in Santa Rosa at one point, he helped develop the glass coating that protects the shuttle windshields on re-entry. Optical Coating was a subcontractor on the shuttle project. Johnston, 63, died Tuesday at a Santa Rosa hospital after fighting cancer for 20 months. His most recent stay in Sonoma County lasted 25 years. He had lived in Santa Rosa after graduating from high school in Eureka in 1949. His wife, Carolyn Johnston of Windsor, said he earned a bachelor's degree in Business at Humboldt State prior to enlisting in the Navy during the Korean War. After the war, he earned a master's degree in quality systems at San Jose State. Johnston's work as a registered professional quality engineer also included early warning radar and quality systems at the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank and the Bank of California. At the banks, he perfected the flow of paperwork and currency that saved the establishments millions of dollars through more efficient operations. He also was a senior fellow of the American Society of Quality Control, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, last in Windsor; and a past chairman of the American Society of Quality Control's San Francisco Section. Johnston was an avid reader and computer buff. He also enjoyed bridge and gardening. His wife said he was ``a gentle and devoted husband and father, and a loyal friend.'' Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Johnston Quilici of San Francisco, and Carrie Johnston of San Jose; and sisters, Floy Dittmar of Santa Rosa, and Bobbie Babcock of San Jose. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. today at Daniels Chapel of the Roses in Santa Rosa. Private inurnment will be at Santa Rosa Memorial Park. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YW.2ADI/28.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi Marilyn, Thanks for responding so fast. I've always been curious about the Edrington connection and now I think I may have an answer, or part of one (hope it's the correct one!). I'm thinking that the James W. and Susanna Edrington in Sonoma county are perhaps my James W. and Marietta (Oman) Sacry's uncle or cousin. My James and Marietta were married in Sonoma, were there in the 1860 census, and left there for mine fields of Ophir, Utah in 1870. They left Utah in 1877 for Virginia City, MT. There was a James W. Sacry as a Baptist minister in Sonoma...this never seemed to line up with me because the family my James married into, the Oman's, were very LDS and the Montana Sacry's have been LDS ever since. I just always "assumed" he changed his religion when he married... Then, just this past week, as I've been working with census on Heritage Quest, I discovered for the 1820 Kentucky census there were only two Sacry: a George (whom I believe is my James W.'s father) in Lexington, Fayette county (where my James says he was born in 1834); and a ... yup... James W. in Greensburg, Green county, KY! ~ This has got me to wondering...the 1810 Kentucky census lists two: James (Franklin county) and George (Fayette county). For 1830 Ancestry lists only two: Frances (I'm wondering if this is George's wife/widow? Frances is a family name in my family) in Fayette; and James in Gallatin. By 1840 census, according to Ancestry: still only two, but different names: Isaac in Franklin and Robert also in Franklin. I found nothing in either Ancestry or HQ for the 1850 census (they perhaps mispelled it!) but in 1860: a George M age 38 and a James age 26 both in Sonoma (this is my James cuz Marietta is with him); a Bush age 27 in Franklin county, KY; and a James! age 62 and a John age 35 in Ray county, MO (which is where my James left Kentucky for at age 17 in the early 1850's)....confusing or what? Does any of this make any sense with what you have? I'd be very interested in sharing information, especially regarding the early Sacry's in Kentucky (and I suspect, Virginia). Thanks for replying! Hope this doesn't overwhelm... Rita
In the 1930 Santa Rosa Census I found Herman E Miller a single 20 year old male living with Annie Zimmerman 60 born in Rhode Island with her married daughter Elizabeth G Miller 25 years old born in NJ. Does anyone know this Zimmerman family? I found this Zimmerman family in the 1910 and 1920 NJ Census but no Herman E Miller. I am wonder who it was the Elizabeth G married? Posably Herman E Millers father? Elizabeth was listed as a music teacher. Herman E's father was Herman L. Miller and he played the kettle drums in an orchestra. Herman L. Miller's first wife died in 1914 shortly after Herman E was born in 1910 San Fran. Jean Harris
