The imprint "Clench - Sebastopol" is in the corner of the photo. I am hoping someone can determine how many years this studio was in existence. The photographer's name is Charles Clench. I have found him with his family on the 1910-1930 census (however on the 1930 census he is 80 years old and occup. is none). My relatives lived in this area approximately 1900-1920. Thank you for any assistance provided.

Regarding Glaphire & Thomas' children: I have only been able to identify 3 of Glaphire & Thomas Ward's 7 children. The original information (number of children) came from Thomas and his second wife's son Charles as given to Kate Mayo in her book. David and Benton (Glaphire & Thomas' sons) are reported in Glaphire's father's will (John A. Mitchell Bowman died 1858) and receive inheritance, their sister Nancy Elizabeth is not mentioned and dies in November 1858. All three of these children appear in the 1852 CA State Census. Please contact me off line - I have extensive information on Glaphire's family - even some photo copies. Judy
It seems that John and Margaret did remain in Sonoma County, CA. I have found them and several generations. Crosby, however, is not in the 1890 Voters Registration records, or any census 1900+. California death index: COOK, Margaret age 71 Sonoma County 8/3/1915 record 26421 COOK, John age 84 Sonoma County 9/7/1924 record 44580 They had two daughters, Gertrude who married Fred Keppel and Ada, who apparently didn't marry, her death name was Cook, in any event. Please email me directly at [email protected] and I will send you a sheet of references that I found this morning. I am not related to this family, just had the time today to do some online research. Hope this helps. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Friday, October 13, 2006 11:08 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [CASONOMA] Cook Brothers from Ontario to Marin and Sonoma 1870s This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. A nephew James A Forward, 27 yrs, was also with them as a labourer. 2 John's brother Crosby Cook married Mary Ann Graham Dec 22,1875 in Oxford Tp Leeds Grenville and at that time he as living in Marin Co Ca . He was a dairyman. In 1880 they were enumerated in Tomales, Marin. There were no children enumerated in 1880. I found this on the California birth index: Looks like you have the right name. GREGORY,ARNOLD RALPH born 1936 08/13 mother FORWARD MALE SONOMA CO It's the only birth that pops up father Gregory, mother Forward for all of 1905-1995 If he was adopted by another family, his name might be different now. Edward's death record says: GREGORY EDWARD R born 1912 07/02 mother SHREIBER father GREGORY MALE OR; died SONOMA CO 1943 01/21 age 30 This will at least give you a better chance of finding an obituary. Didn't find Sylvia in the death index. Good luck. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, September 26, 2006 12:41 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [CASONOMA] Looking for Sylvia Forward Gregory's son Arnold?(b.1936)from Sonoma Co.California This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YW.2ADI/4244 Message Board Post: Looking for a long lost relative we think could be named Arnold Ralph Gregory b.8/13/1936 in Sonoma Co. California. His mother was Sylvia Forward Gregory (b.9/18/1918 Humbolt Co.CA) and his father was Edward Riggs Gregory III (b.7/2/1912 d.Jan 1943). This is a sad story that happened back in Santa Rosa Calif in Jan 1943 in which the father was shot by the mother and we do not know what happened to the 6 yr old child. Any leads you might have would be greatly appreciated. I have a newspaper clipping from the incident in 1943 but am not sure which paper it's from. Possibly an obit for Edward Riggs Gregory III would help as we are not sure of the exact name of the child.
