Author: MabelGrubbe Surnames: Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.california.counties.solano/1236.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Harold Robert Bell July 5, 1920 - Feb. 3, 2005 Harold Bell passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on Feb. 3, 2005, surrounded by his loving wife of 63 years old and his two daughters. He was 84 years, 7 months old. Harold was born July 5, 1920, in Kalamma, Wash., to Margaret and Harry C. Bell. In the Spring of 1940, Harold met and fell in love with Lucy Jean Boone, and they were married June 13, 1942. Harold served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1946, with an honorable discharge. On Jan. 18, 1953, they were blessed with a daughter, Susan Elaine, and on May 18, 1955, they were blessed again with a daughter, Barbara Jean. He worked as senior right of way agent for Santa Clara County for 34 years until he retired in 1983. Harold and Lucy subsequently moved to Vacaville, where he and Lucy lived until his death. Harold was preceded in death by his mother and father, Margaret and Harry C. Bell of Shelton, Wash.; his brother, Clarence C. Bell of Palm Springs; and a granddaughter, Katy. He is survived in life by his loving wife of 63 years, Lucy Bell; his daughter, Susan Mainland and her husband, Martin of Morgan Hill; daughter, Barbie Mutz and her husband, Mark of Morgan Hill; his grandchildren, Lisa and her husband, Dale; Jennifer and her husband, Stephen; John, Allison, Eric, Kristy and Alec; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Ashley, Myla and Amara. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. His sweet, cheerful nature and happy smile will be deeply missed. A memorial service with military honors will be held at their home in Vacaville at 2 p.m. Friday. It is the family's request that any contributions be made to NorthBay Hospice in the name of Harold R. Bell.
