Author: JWatson9552 Surnames: MCDONALD, HANNIGAN, PENNYCOOK Classification: death Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.california.counties.solano/1261.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: J. J. McDonald was the name of the funeral home. J. J. McDonald established the funeral home in 1894. J. J. McDonald passed away in 1931. His son, Justin E. McDonald, assumed management of the funeral home at that time. Justin E. McDonald passed away in 1941. His wife, Agnes (Pennycook) McDonald, took over operation of the funeral home and remained in business until 1961, when she sold the mortuary to Thomas Hannigan. Thomas Hannigan was on the staff of the mortuary from 1932 and assumed management of the mortuary in 1941, upon the death of Justin McDonald. Thomas Hannigan continued to operate the mortuary until the building was razed as part of the Vallejo urban renewal project. Thomas Hannigan then was associated briefly with Colonial Chapels Funeral Home, and subsequently joined the staff of Cyril McDonald's Twin Chapels Funeral Home. Thomas Hannigan passed away in 1966. None of the staff of the current Vallejo funeral homes know of the disposition of the J. J. McDonald Mortuary records. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
