A transcript of an obit for Maria L. Higel from the Vallejo Times-Herald, dated Feb. 15, 1928 follows: "MRS. HIGEL PASSES AWAY Mrs. Maria L. Higel passed away at her home, 909 virginia street, last night following a protracted ill- ness. She was a pioneer of Vallejo and leaves a legion of friends to mourn her loss. Known survivors are her husband, Joseph Higel, and a daughter, Mrs. W. F. Ward, both of Vallejo. Mrs. Farmer Sanford is in charge of the funeral arrangements, which have not been completed as yet."
