That was very fast. My mother (daughter of Joseph Lewis/Luiz and Ida Vierra/Vieira) never told me we were Portuguese or that her first language wasn't English. I've just started researching and unfortunately there are no relatives that are I know of who know anything about the family. I had never heard of the SPRSI and that sounds like a great place to start. I'm now living in San Diego where there is also a large Portuguese population, so they might be able to help me figure out how to uncover the mysteries of my family. Thanks again, Lorinda Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. In an earlier address book, thinking between 1946-1949, listed is a Mary Vierra, widow, living at 623 Taylor Street. Mary was a good friend and neighbor of my grandmother who was a Gerevas,my gr. grandmother, last name Yatsie, and my Aunt, a Freitas, and if I remember right, was a member of SPRSI, as were almost all the Portuguese ladies in town. Perhaps this will give the Historical Society a place to begin. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Looks like Seal something. It looks like the return add. is luci or Joni, H30 Hamilton Drive, Suisun, CA 65542 and it was sent to Aunt Grace and Uncle Virgil then signed Edie, Bob, Joni. I looked up old street maps of Suisun and there has never been a Hamilton Drive in Suisun proper, at least between 1938 and 1960, and Fairfield has a different zip code. The base had block numbers like H through the alphabet and the 30 was probably the apartment number. Hope this helps Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. That may explain why I am not finding any info on the family in California. They may have been reassigned to another base. My Blankenship's stayed in Missouri. My Great Grandmother, Grace Adkins married Virgil Blankenship. Just to make sure I am interpreting the return address info correctly, what last name do you see for the family? The postage mark says San Francisco I think. Mail from the base would at one time be routed to there. I found the card in my Great Grandmother's box. I am not even sure which person is her biological neice or nephew or whom that person's parent is. I assume it was the woman since no one in the family had that last name and my grandmother and her sister were the only girls and Bessie married a Fairbairn.I wish I knew more. Im trying to locate this family in hopes of connecting with living relatives. But it looks like the address is a dead end. I will look into the Travis Airforce Base. There used to be quarters/barracks that had house numbers like that. And there was a Hamilton Street on base. Is it possible your person in question was military? It is right next to Suisun and the town borders have changed over the years. Are you sure that the address is H30, and not 1130?
