I know that her birth date is 1909. I don't know of any school or family. The obituary was our mistake saying Oakland. We found out after that she was born in Livermore. There is no list of Parents on the Death certificate since we did not have the information at the time of her death. We found names some names that may link to her on here. Luke, Katherine, Trina, Earnest. Yes my mothers name is Nancy. Thank You for the link. I will see what I can find from them. Unfortunately, I have no photos of this awful WWII housing project. And my father also worked at Travis AFB. I have many childhood memories about this place, some bad, some good, mostly good. I did attend Olympic Elementary School for a few years before my father was reassigned to a posh assignment at Fort Presidio in San Francisco. I do believe Olympic Elementary became Sierra Vista Elementary. SV was closed in 1971 when a new school, Loma Vista Elementary, was built directly across the street. Loma Vista is located at 146 Ranier Street, Vallejo, CA 94589. I know this area has completely changed since I was there in the 50's. Back then there was no development to the west and north. I used to sneak onto the farm lands to the north. Do you remember three tank hill which stood directly above Olympic Elementary? The school held annual Easter egg hunts on this hill. Author: Annp42 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.california.counties.solano/461.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I just came across your posting from 2003. I also attended Olympic Elementary (kdg. in 1955 in Mrs. Kelly's class). We lived in Chabot Terrace while my Dad served in the Air Force at Travis. I'm very interested in any more information you might have about this area. Do you have any photos of the housing? Do you know the school address? I have relatives in Fairfield and visit the area frequently. We just drove through the Chabot Terrace area last week and I thought a school we drove by (off of Corcoran Ave) looked like it could be the one I remember. The old housing was torn down (probably in early 1960's) and my mom remembers that they were replaced by a housing development called "College Houses" or something like that. There is an area around Mini Dr where all the streets have college names so that must be the development. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I don't find her in any online records except for the 1930 census. At that point she is listed as single. Are you certain MARINE is her maiden name? You have her birth date listed in your online family tree. Are you certain that is the exact date? I don't find her in the California Birth Index... Is there anything else at all you can add? Where she went to school? Did she ever mention visiting family? Her Times-Herald obituary stated she was born in Oakland and lived most of her life in Vallejo, which is Solano County. Do you have a copy of her death certificate? Does it list her parents? You write that she had ten siblings, but you don't know any of their names? I'll keep digging to see what I can find, but any bit of information you can add might help. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
