Author: judyartley53 Surnames: Mackenzie, Rogers Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.california.counties.solano/1258.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, First you need to find each person's death date before you can request a copy of their obituary. John A. Mackenzie in 1900 was living with Norton A. and Maria F. Rogers (his daughter) in Vallejo, Solano Co., CA. He does not appear on the 1910 Census so he died between these dates. The California Death Index doesn't include these dates and he's not listed in FamilySearch. Therefore, I'd contact the Solano County Genealogical Society, rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cascgsi/leftside.htm . They may be able to find his death date and his obituary. Maria and Andrew Norton Rogers continue to live in Vallejo and appear on the 1920 Census but not the 1930. I'd contact the Genealogy Society. Henry A. Mackenzie and family in 1900 was living in Vallejo. Henry A. Mackenzie, b. CA, May 1858, boilermaker. Margaret T., wife, b. NJ July 1858, gave birth to eight children who were all alive in 1900. Theo H., b. CA Oct 1882, salesman grocery. John A., b. CA Mar 1884, day laborer. Anna C., b. CA June 1885. Raymond, b. CA April 1888. Frances, dau, b. CA Feb. 1890. Walter, b. CA July 1892. Lucille, b. CA Aug. 1895. Richard D., b. CA July 1898. Samuel Brown, son, b. CA April 1863, divorced, day laborer. In 1910 Henry, Margaret & some of the children were living in Vallejo. In 1920 Henry, Margaret, Raymond and Richard were living in Vallejo but Henry and Margaret were not in the 1930 Census. I'd contact the local genealogy society. In 1930 Raymond and family lived in Vallejo. Raymond Mackenzie, b. CA, 42, M1 @ 21, butcher butcher shop. Anita, wife, b. CA, 38, M1 @ 27. Jean, b. CA, 6. In 1930 Richard and family were living in Vallejo. Richard McKinsey [how appears on Census but I turned in a correction to Ancestry] b. CA, 31, marr @ 27, shipwright boat yard. Margaret, wife, b. CA, 26, marr @ 22. Constance, b. CA, 1 2/12ths. Margaret, mother, b. NJ, 71, widow. A Richard V. MacKenzie b. 20 July 1898, CA died 16 Dec 1965, Solano Co. Mother's Maiden Name=Rice. Source: California Death Index 1940-97. YOu can find a volunteer to copy this obituary at Random Acts Genealogical Kindness to be sure this is your Richard. Go to raogk.org, read guidelines, choose California, choose Solano Co. and choose John. I'd contact the local genealogy society for the others. Successful Searching! I'd contact the local genealogy society. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
