Author: hcasner2 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.casner/80.3.2.1.2.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Charles: I thought I replied to your message several days ago but I noticed nothing posted on Ancestry. So if this is a duplicate I apologize. My research of the Casners in Juniata County PA has not turned up the spelling "Kasner." I do find a John Casner in the 1800 census for Derry Township in Mifflin County (Juniata County was formed in 1831 from part of Mifflin County) listed as 26 to 44 years old. This would put him in the right bracket for a birth in 1773, but the census shows he had sons from 16 to 25, which doesn't work as he would have been 11 years old when he had even a 16 year old son. More info on my line. gg grandparents were Jethro Casner (1812-1876) and Elizabeth Porter (1815-1853). g grandparents were John H Casner (1842-1916) and Susan E Beidler (1835-1899). Grandparents were Jacob (Jay) Casner (1880-????)and Ada Naylor (1879-1970). Parents were Herbert Casner (1906-1983) and Naomi Hershey (1902-1996). All but my parents were born in Juniata County. I believe (but not definite yet) my ggg grandfather was Jacob Casner (abt 1784-1830). He immigrated from England to Juniata County. I'll keep your information on file and let you know if I run across anything. thanks for sharing. Herb Casner Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: ccasner11 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.casner/80.3.2.1.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi: Our branch of the Casner family stems from John Kasner (he was buried under the Kasner name) and wife Susanna, 1779-1853. John was born about November 16, 1773 in Pennsylvania, although I'been unable to determine his origin. I suspect at some time he was in Bedford County, Pa, eventually settling in Washington Township, Coshocton County, Ohio where he farmed from about 1812 to early in the 1850s. He died June 3, 1857, in Whitley County, Indiana and was buried at Oak Grove Methodist Church Cemetery near South Whitley. I do not recall having researched any of the names you mentioned. For your information, one of John Kasner's grandsons, Frederick Casner and wife Hannah Barber, migrated to Story County, Iowa in the 1850s. Frederick's mother and John's daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Wolford Casner, relocated in the 1870s to be with her only remaining son Frederick. She died in Story County's poor home in 1889. Maybe some of this might help you eliminate some avenues of resear! ch. Charles Casner Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
