Now I need to verify that Franklin was the Frank that ended up in Lancaster, PA, married Elizabeth Rhoads, and started three generations of sons named Frederick. Do you know who Franklin's child(ren) were? Steve Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. According to my information Franklin was born in 1851. I haven't done further research on him yet. Elizabeth (Porter) Casner died in April of either 1853 or 1858. The year of death on her gravestone is very difficult to read. I belive it is an eight, but it could be a three. Jethro did remarry to Margaret as shown in the 1860 census. Jethro and Elizabeth were my great-great grandparents. However I am stuck with them and can't get any earlier. I have reason to believe that Jethro's father was Jacob Casner who was an immigrant from England in either the late 1700s or early 1800, but I can't confirm that. If you have any information on Jethro's parents I would like to correspond with you. Am also willing to share any information I have on this line. Do you know if Franklin is their son? Or of a possible later marriage to a woman named Margaret? I'm trying to tie Jethro to a line of Casners who lived in Lancaster, PA. Author: psmaynard Surnames: Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.casner/119/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Decatur Daily Review, Decatur IL, 7 Nov 1905, pg. 11 Mrs. L. B. Casner died at 8 o'clock Monday night at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. E. B. Chapman, at Casner, where she had been residing for some time. Her death was caused by cancer and was rather unexpected. She had been in poor health since last April, but had only been confined to her bed for about five weeks. At that time she had an operation performed and the cancer was removed and she appeared to be getting along very well, but she grew worse a few days ago. She is survived by four children, Mrs. James Wikoff of Crowley, La., Mrs. John Dawson of Chicago, Mrs. E. B. Chapman of Casner, and John Casner of Decatur. All the children were present at her death except Mrs Dawson. She was home a short time ago, but as her mother appeared better she went back to Chicago. She returned to Casner Tuesday. Mrs. Casner's maiden name was Mary Eleanor Flanigan. She was born in Montgomery county, Ind. and was married to L. B. Casner Sept. 22, 1853. Mr. and Mrs. Casner had a fine residence at the little town which bore their name. They moved to Decatur several years ago and built the handsome residence on West Main Street now owned and occupied by Dr. Will Barnes. At that time Mr. Casner was a stockholder in some of the banks of Decatur and had many other interests, at one time owning 2,000 acres of land in one piece. He died a few years ago. Mrs. Casner was well known and had many friends. The funeral will be held at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Chapman. The interment will be at Long Creek cemetery. Macon County Old Settlers Association obituaries not related - Pam Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I hope to make it up to Greene County, Indiana as I have found that several of my father-in-law's Corbin relatives are buried in Greene County. Our library has very limited information on Greene County so if any of your books have information on the James Corbin 1793-1785; George Washington Corbin 1838-1863; Daniel Boone Corbin 1857-1934 as well as Nancy Hatfield 1836-1902 daughter of Mordicia Ale Hatfield and Milly Richardson would be wonderful. It would give me a jump start for when I head up there this summer. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
