    1. Roll Call
    2. I think it's time for a ROLL CALL. And, since I've never posted to this list I will start it. I hope others will do the same so we can make some connections. My Casners are as follows. Enoch (Enic) Wilson CASNER, went most often by Wilson or Wils. Born 4/9/1832 in Tioga County, PA. Died in Benton County, Iowa 1/13/1922       married 8/3/1861 to Elizabeth May LAPP, born 1843 in Canada. Died Benton County, Iowa on 5/2/1926. Immediately after their wedding Enic and Eliz. moved to Benton County and lived out their lives there. They were the parents of 10 children. 3 baby girls who died as infants Ida Mae Casner married Chester BELL Arnetta Casner married Bert HALL Ione Casner married Oscar Levi AURNER Frank Casner married Floretta EVANS Belle Casner married to Guy MCCOY Elizabeth Casner married Frank HARRISON Lafayette Casner never married died at age 21. Now the suspected parents of Enic and Elizabeth. I do NOT have concrete proof yet of these connections. Enic was the son of: Cornelius CASNER and his unknown 1st wife. They had at least one other son Thomas Casner. Cornelius remarried to Rachel REMP, born 8/25/1823 and died 1903 back in PA. They had the following children Hiram 1848 Martha 1850 Cornelius 1852 Rachel 1854 Clara 1860 married George HILLER Millard 1861 married Mary Elizabeth BECKER. Cornelius was killed by Osage Indiana near Leavenworth Kansas on June 7, either 1867 or 1868. After his death Rachel returned to PA with the children. Elizabeth was the daughter of: Andrew LAPP and Anna KOPP, a lot of people are saying her name was Anna CIPP. I do have proof of the name Kopp. Anna and Andrew had other children Susan b abt 1824 married Conrad MITCHELL Mary married Levi LANDON Abram married Maria DeWolf HARNETT Anna Louisa married Edward WILL Andrew Robert. Now Elizabeth and at least some of the other children were born in Canada. They were listed however as American citizens. They returned to the US in 1854. I believe that Andrew and Anna both died in PA. Any connections out there? Sheri Jensen Cedar Rapids, Iowa

    3. I'm doing a simple post just in case there are new CASNER researchers/descendants who might be lurking in the background somewhere on this list. Would like to hear from any CASNER/CARSNER researcher. My particular line was in PA, VA, TN, AL, MO, IA, UT, NV, ID, OR, CA, WA, NM, TX, KS and probably quite a few other states. I have extensive information but still have a few gaps.

    3. Anne: You ask for suggestions. A few things come to mind. There are several volunteer lookup sites on the net that might assist you in the following areas. (1) Most universities have alumini associations. You indicate Mike was a student; if you know the univeristy he was attending and if he graduated, you might write to the alumni association. He might get lucky and the alumni association might have the current address for Mike. He might also try the student records department at the university; they should have information as to where Mike graduated from highschool, that would give you the state and town. Of course there is a privacy thing about release of information from univeristy records; so Joseph Sinclair would probably have to make the query. (2) If Joseph Sinclair knows where his father and mother married, he might want to obtain a copy of their marriage record (these are usually maintained at the county courthouse in the state in which they married). States differ in what informatoin they keep on marriage records but the marriage record might give clues as to where his father was from. (3) If you have the marriage date, then search for a wedding announcement in the local newspaper of the town where they married; or search the local newspaper of the hometown of Rosalie. If there was one, perhaps it willl provide the name of the town/state where he was from; it might also give the names of his parents. (4) If Mike and Rosalie divorced, he might want to get a copy of the divorce papers to glean information from those about his father. (5) Does Joseph Sinclair have a copy of his birth certificate. Again, states differ on what information is provided on the birth record. However, often it will give the state where the father was born along with the age. With that inforamtion one can do further searching. Hope this helps some. Liz Freeman In OK, USA! >His father was Michael Casner - known as Mike - who he believes was from >Pennsylvania. 1. Casner records in West Virginia
    2. I stand corrected as to William Hill Casner, who was the grandson of Vandal Benjamin Casner. Vandal's son William had three children, none of whom lived to adulthood: Adam, 1846-1851; Susana, 1849-1851; and Malisa, 1849-1860. Sorry for the confusion.

    2. hi! my name is Anne Marie Harrington & I live in Dublin, Ireland. This probably isn't useful information for you but ties in with our search: my boyfriends name is Joseph Sinclaire Casner, who is from Washington State. His father was Michael Casner - known as Mike - who he believes was from Pennsylvania. Joe was born on 18th May 1970, but lost contact with his father at 2yrs old. His mother name - who was married to Michael was Rosalie York. As you can imagine, Joseph would love to hear from or meet his father. Michael Casner was a student in Washington State at the time Joseph was born. Michael's mother may or may not have been Jewish. Michael would have been in his early/mid-twenties when Joseph was born (50's now?).Thats about all we know unfortunately!!! If you think you might know anything or have any ideas of where/how to search we'd love to hear from you. If not good luck with your own search!!!

    2. Chris: None of the records I've found about William Casner (1807-1876), son of Vandal and Elizabeth (Hill) Casner, give the middle name Hill. Have you found a source that states this as his middle name? I have information about William Hill Casner (1827-1922), a son of George and Margaret (Yeager) Casner of Randolph Co. and Lewis Co., VA and grandson of Vandal and Elizabeth. His middle name is well documented. Is there some confusion about these two Williams? Bob

    1. Re: Casner records for West Virginia
    2. William Hill Casner was the son of Vandal Benjamin Casner who in turn was the son of Adam Casner of Pendleton Co., W. VA. William moved with his family to Guernsey Co., OH in 1825. If you contact their historical society, you will be able to obtain quite a bit of information about this family, including land records and census inormation. Just be aware that William's youngest brother Benjamin was only married to Margaret Graham, not Margaret Coffman. There is a mistake confusing two cousins named Benjamin. Happy hunting!

    2. Hi again; The details on my family are very sketchy to say the least. I traveled down to Colorado last month to meet with my third cousin for the first time. She let me read her grandmother Nona' s, my great aunt, wedding book from 1902. By then my family connections had already disingrated. My G-grandfather was Adolphus Crim Casner and he was married to Kitty Estelle Wilcox until she died on Dec 26,1897 a year after my grandfather was born. There is a a story in the family which I will reveal through private internet only. I will tell you more later. I've got an appointment to keep now.

    2. I am glad to hear about your finding a James Casner out in Colorado as the family back in Ohio thought he might have died in a mining accident. I know that James went to Iowa as some of his childen were born there. Don't know about Missouri, but that makes sense since it is on the way to Colorado. Who was your g-grandfather?
