My GGGrandfather, Thomas Jonas South 1814-1850, was Captain of a wagon train that came from New Albany, Indiana to Sacramento in the summer of 1850. After they arrived and disbanded, T.J. South went to work as Manager of the teams & cattle on the Monroe Ranch and in November of 1850, died. He supposedly was buried at the foot of the Shasta Mts. I was hoping there would be a descendant of the Monroes that might see my message and reply. I know there are two cemeteries shown at the base of Mt. Shasta, but not certain how old they are.
