Author: Hazel_G Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.california.counties.siskiyou/1506.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: In reference to your inquirie about the Monroe Ranch--- There are very few Monroe names in old records, but I did come across this item Monroe, Julian Randolph Squaw Valley 26 McCloud This appeared in the early Registers of Siskiyou County, and McCloud, is at the base of Mt.Shasta and is also on one of the early routes into the area; There is a public campground east of McCloud and a few years ago while I was camped there, another group of campers were using geiger counters trying to locate the early trail, finding horse-shoes and other bits and pieces of metal, in their research to map that trail in historic records.
