Per the Grisez 'family file' @ Siskiyou CO Museum in Yreka, CA, this family was in Ohio prior to their arrival in CA. I am sure that you know this, but thought to mention that there was a file at the museum, and if you had not seen, it may be of use to you in your research. The folks at the museum are very helpful.
