AMERICAN VALLEY (see Quincy) ARGENTINE (see Quincy) BECKWITH A pleasant post office town of about one hundred inhabitants, lying at an altitude of about 5,000 feet, and situated in the northwestern extension of Sierra Valley, forty-two miles from Quincy. It possesses a general store, blacksmith, wagon and harness shops, and a comfortable hotel conducted by Mrs. J. E. Smith. The surrounding country is principally devoted to farming, including stockraising and dairying.
