Born May 17, 1941, he died at home following a six-month battle with cancer. He was 62. He was born in Berkeley where his father, Harold Dean Carter, was a professor of educational psychology at UC Berkeley. His mother was Jean Elizabeth Timberman Carter. Carter lived in Davis for many years. He was a skilled carpenter, handyman and general contractor. He was active and popular in a local 12-step program and helped many people. A lifelong bachelor, he lived in a house of his own design in West Davis that was dominated by a spacious workshop and his large collection of tools. He had a keen sense of humor and many enthusiasms from boating to do-it-yourself projects. He moved from Davis more than 10 years ago to pursue mining ventures. At the time of his death, he was well known in Scott Valley as a general contractor. He will be missed by his many friends. Carter is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Ben and Peggy Carter of Manhattan Beach, and their two daughters, Barbara and Sarah.
