Looking for info on John Thomas, found in the 1860 fc for Klamath County. John's from Ohio (near Hamilton County) and his grandfather was Joseph Smith (1729-1804.) John's brother went to Iowa in 1838 and bought land near Davenport. John and his brother were in the CA goldfields in the 1850 fc. The above mentioned Joseph Smith had one son, Joseph (1877-writing goes off the page....) They were from NJ. Need to find out how they were related to Cyrus Smith. There are stories in the family from my grandfathers' (Walter Dempster Thompson married to Gladys Nelrae Wilson) side that Christopher ran away from his father in Denmark who was rumored to be a viking berserker or was a descendent from them and had a violent temper. We believe we have many family members in Denmark from what my Uncle Chris said and has visited some of them from when he was in the military (I still need to contact him to find out more about this) I haven't found anyone who knows of his parents yet. 1. [CASISKIY] BECKWITH Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of L. D. BECKWITH which was taken at the C. W. Lucas Studio in Brodhead, Wisconsin. The photograph is dated 4 Jan 1892 with the young man in the photograph likely in his teens or 20's at the time it was taken. Based on limited research and thanks to a BECKWITH Family Researcher I was able to gather the following information regarding this young man and his family: Loring Dumas BECKWITH was b. 16 Oct 1872 in Longmont, Colorado to parents Frederick Clark BECKWITH (b. 22 Jan 1840 in NH) and Louisa Patten FISHER (b. 1840 in ME). Loring was one of two children born to this couple including, himself and a sister Helen Josephine BECKWITH b. 2 Aug 1875 in Longmont, CO. Loring married Charlotte "Lottie" Adorra DOOLITTLE (b. 21 Jan 1874 in Magnolia, WI dau of John E. DOOLITTLE and Kate A. DONALDSON) on 8 Aug 1903 in Brodhead, WI. Loring died 11 Sept 1968 in San Joaquin Co., CA and is buried in the Casa Bonita Mausoleum in Stockton, CA. Census records provide the following details: 1870 census of St. Vrain, CO: Fred C. BECKWITH, age 30, a Retail Merchant, born NH Louisa BECKWITH, age 20, Keeping House, born ME Elmer F. BECKWITH, age 21, a Post Office Clerk, born NH 1880 census of Longmont, CO: Fred BECKWITH, age 38, a Farmer, born NH, parents born NH Mary BECKWITH, wife, age 38, Keeping House, born ME, parents born ME Lorine BECKWITH, son, age 7, at School, born CO Helen BECKWITH, dau, age 4, born CO Emily MAYNE, age 13, at School, born WI, parents born England 1900 census of Denver, CO: L. BECKWITH Loring's son Marc Frederick BECKWITH was b. 12 Mar 1906 in Canon City, CO and died 2 Oct 1997 in San Joaquin, CA. Marc's obit indicates that he was survived by wife Frances BECKWITH of Stockton, sons Vernon BECKWITH of Davis, CA, and Anthony BECKWITH of San Jose, CA, and brother Wade BECKWITH of Hornbrook, CA. Loring's son Claude Emory BECKWITH b. 1913 in NM died in San Joaquin, CA in 1928. Youngest son, Wade C. BECKWITH died 28 Oct 1997 in Siskiyou, CA.
