However, you have the date he went missing and the date his body was found. You should be able to write the library in Yreka and request a newspaper lookup for that timeframe.     3. There may be others with better knowledge, but I'd say there were zero organized cemeteries near Mt. Shasta in 1850. If TJ worked SOUTH of Sacramento, as you state, he was moving AWAY from Mt. Shasta. Mt. McLaughlin was misidentified as Mt. Shasta on some early maps, but that is even farther from Sacramento to the north, and in Oregon. There is/was a Monroe Ranch in Markleeville which is the correct direction from Sacramento. I'd start checking records for that area. Good luck.
