Freeman who died in Loyalton, Sierra County, in 1899. James A. Freeman was born in Tennessee and attempting to determine if he was from Franklin County, Tennessee. Land records showed real property purchased by Freeman in the 1870's and the 1880 census showed him living with his brother Ed Freeman. The James A. Freeman I am seeking was a Confederate veteran of the First Tennessee Regiment and would have moved to California after the Civil War.
