Vern D /////////////////////////////////////////// Transcribed by Dee Sardoc ///////////////////////////////////////////// Stockton Daily Independent Stockton, San Joaquin Co., CA ************************* >>SATURDAY, 6 JUNE 1863<< 2 MEN BLOWN to PIECES -- On Wednesday, May 27th, while firing a salute at Downieville, in honor of the supposed capture of Vicksburg, 1st Lieutenant M.M. ROUX and 2nd Lieutenant Wm. A. DONALDSON, of company K, 6th Regiment C.V., were both killed by the premature discharge of a cannon which they were loading. Lieut. ROUX died from his wounds in 4 hours after receiving them, and Lieut. DONALDSON died the next day. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
