Probably you got the marriage of Mary Emma Newman to Allan Nicholson from the bio in the history of Sierra co.; have you confirmed it any other way? When I get time, I'm thinking of running up to Downieville to see if it is recorded in Sierra co. (I live in the next county down, so it's not too long a trek.)
