She was 81 years old. ~ Funeral services are pending at the Hooper and Weaver Mortuary in Grass Valley. (The Union Mon. Oct. 22, 1973 pg 10 col 4) Wednesday services for Zella Woods - Funeral services are Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Hooper Weaver Chapel for Zella G. Woods who died Monday at the Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital. She was 81. ~ The Rev. Evald Leps will officiate with cremation to follow in Sierra View Memorial Park, Marysville. ~ A native of Forest City, Sierra County, she moved to Nevada City as a young girl and attended local schools prior to returning to Forest City where she completed her education. ~ She was a member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Downieville parlor. Survivors include a son, Walter R. Rowlands of Grass Valley and a stepson, Lawrence W. Woods of Auburn. (The Union Tues. Oct. 23, 1973 pg 12 col 4 top) ZELLA WOODS RITES - Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday for Zella G. Woods who died Oct. 22 at the age of 81. Rev. Evald Leps of the United Methodist Church of Grass Valley conducted the service and Grace Raymond Porter was the organist in the Hooper and Weaver Chapel. I did not know the information about the DMF. I found the 1900 Census entry that you posted in your reply and had tossed that around in my mind before posting on the boards. I agree with your thoughts on this. What is not showing up are the names of the children we knew in our childhood, PATSY WOODS, CHARLOTTE WOODS, AND JACKIE WOODS (male) all siblings as best I can recall and per obituary. I have black & white photos of the girls but none of Jackie so I do know that lived for some time. Also, some or all of these children could still be living which naturally means we will not have an easy time locating any of the girls due possible marriages. As for their brother Jackie, I have tried to locate him as well but there are so many, and there is very little way to determine if the person is male or female, that it will be along time before I will have a conclusion.
