Marmon was born in Logan County, Ohio in 1824 to an Orthodox Quaker family; moved to Cass County, Michigan in 1829; was disowned by the Birch Lake Monthly Meeting in 1849 for deviating from plain speech & dress and for nonattendance; left for California in 1852 and traveled overland, passing through Kanesville, Iowa in May 1852. Listed on the federal census 1860: Goodyears Bar, miner 1870: Lincoln, miner 1880: Goodyears Bar, deputy county assessor Moved to Sacramento in mid-1880s, worked as a janitor in a church. Died and buried in Sacramento in 1901. Would like to learn more about his years in Sierra County. Debian
