My gr-grandmother Elizabeth/Lizzie Porter/D Rosa's bachelor brothers John and George were there on the 1920 census. John was in SF in 1910 then I can no record of any of these older men until an 1896 deed sale of John's dwelling in Plum Valley 1896 (Book 11, 199)or my gr-grandfather Manuel D Rosa until the voter registrations in 1890 on back through 1880 and on back to 1866 for gr-gr grandfather Stillman Porter in Sierra. I am at a loss to know where they were in this earlier gap. There were several other D Rosa children born in this time (including my Grandfather). The Porter women show up in San Francisco in 1900 but none of these men are to be found (and Eliz. is listed as a widow). Earlier they were in Forest in 1880 with their father Stillman and other family, also in 1870 in Goodyears Bar. Stillman was evidently shot in his store robbery in or near Pike in Sept 1885 and is buried there,I believe near an infant grandson (twin?)Joseph Da Rosa of 1884 (His parents md. there in 1882). I've viewed microfilm of the county vital records in the Salt Lake City LDS family history center south of my home but cannot find any further records. Would you know if their filming was complete? It shows no death record 1874-1878 then 1884, only 3 ending Aug 1 then jumps to 1879 and an affidafit of birth of Stillman's daughter Kate filed in 1943 by her brother John Porter is all I can find for birth. I did find the 1882 mariage record there of my grgrandparents and think the I. Rosa witness is a relative of Manual's (Father?) since I find an Ignacio Rosa on the same ship manifest where I think Manuel is rightly fitting in (at16) in Boston from the Azores in 1873. The voter regis. lead me to his Nevada City naturalization in 1874. A copy of deeds, "Book Y, 1/22/1883, pg 684, 685, 686 of the Porter's property mentions a "county Road on the west by M Rose fence" Would this be indicator of property of my Gr grandfather's? Would there be mining claims? Any other ideas or places to try? Were there any obituaries or criminal records of shootings? Any major events for men in my 1890 to 1900 gap?
