Author: tex61 Surnames: FRANK, FRANCK, FRA??, HENRIQUES Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.california.counties.sierra/610/mb.ashx Message Board Post: May 3rd, 2007 Thursday 9:55 p.m. Can somebody lookup birth & or baptism records for me please. I am looking for my grandmothers side of the family. The last name they were using on the 1880 Census for Oregon City in Butte County in CA was FRANK. On the 1st 10 or so pages of this census it says City Of Cherokee. My family is Portuguese so there is a possibility they are using the last name spelled FRANCK, FRANCISCO, FRANCISCA, FRANCA, MARTIN OR HENRIQUES. Or the last name spelling starting with FRA. HENRIQUES is the maiden name of the mother Mary. I was told that Portuguese people usually didn't use there birth names when they came to the U.S., that is why I have given a few differant spellings. The mother & fathers names are Martin & Mary both born in Portugal or The Azores. Here are the childrens names. Frank, Mary Born CA (Most Likely instead of MA) 1875 Frank, Frank (Yes they named one of there children Frank Frank) Born 1877 Manuel Born 1879 or 1880 There are possibly 4 other children that were born after the 1880 census. Josephine, Alice Rena & May/Mae and Martin. My grandmother Alice Rena Frank (Franck) married my grandfather Gus Foster Rowe approx. 1908. I have been looking for my grandmothers side of the family for 14 months now with no luck. I am grasping at straws and loosing hope of ever finding them and would appreciate any help. You can email me at [email protected] THANK YOU VERY MUCH, KIM ROWE Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Mary, I searched the Ancestry.com database and did not find them in California in the 1920 and 1930 censuses. I did find the entry you apparently found in the California Death Index for Lily. I also found the following in the California Death Index: Grover Cleveland Miller, b. 3 Mar 1885, PA; d. 2 Dec 1944, Los Angeles county, CA, Mother's maiden name: Keller Grover C. Miller, b. 4 Apr 1885, Minnesota; d. 24 Jun 1961, Shasta County, CA; Mother's maiden name: Day I suggest you send for the death certificate of one or both of them. Their death certificate should list family information as well as a specific place of interment (or other disposition). (Tehama county is adjacent to Shasta county. There is a town of Tehama in the county. The reference to Tehama could be to the town or to the county generally.) Redding is in Shasta county and is the county seat. The county clerk's website is at <http://www.co.shasta.ca.us/Departments/AssessorRecorder/deathcerts.shtml>. Each DC is $12 and can be ordered by mail. The website gives the information on how to do so. Anyone is entitled to an "Informational" copy. (Never order a certificate through the state office in Sacramento as they often take a year or more to respond. If you know the county ALWAYS order from the county. If you're not sure of the county you may have to use the state. Most counties will keep your fee even if they don't find the record. They call it a "search fee.") You might also look at the California GenWeb sites for Shasta and Tehama counties. These sites, maintained by volunteers, often have outstanding family history information on them. Some even have inventoried cemeteries in their counties. Shasta is at <http://cagenweb.com/shasta/> and Tehama is at <http://cagenweb.com/eb/tehama>. Good luck. 3. I hope someone can help me with Lily Grace. She was born 11 April 1891 in Polk county, Missouri. (nee FOX). She married a Grover Cleveland Miller in 1912 and off they went to the west. I found her death in the California death index: 15 Jan 1961 in Redding. I have a note that she was buried in Tehama. I immediately thought of the small community of Tehama. Can anyone steer me in the proper direction for her burial location? Mary in Alaska where spring has finally come

I am so sorry I haven't gotten back to you! I have been so busy. I do have my grandfather's enlistment record plus census and his divorce decree from my grandmother. We have been in touch with his son John Kenneth (My Dad found a new 1/2 brother and 2 half sisters)and his sisters who were all born in California and now live in Wisconsin. As I understand from my Dad as well as from my new found uncle and aunts my grandfather wasn't a very pleasant man but still I want to know about him. I would like to know what he looked like in his later years. My new uncle gave me a pic of him when he was in the service. It was the first time I had ever laid eyes on him that I can remember. I would like a photo of his gravesite if possible. I know he has been married twice but we all suspect probably more than that. We have heard he has more children around the Las Vegas area. Just anything you can find. I am missing his marriage record to my grandmother. I don't know if she marri! ed him in California, Illinois or where. There doesn't seem to be any record I can find online. I found their divorce decree in Missouri or rather my grandmother's. She told me many years ago that she had to wait 7 years to declare him dead in order to obtain a divorce! Ha! Come to find out he wasn't dead until 1996. He just picked up and left. Kris anything you can find would great. And if there is anything I need to pay for like a photo please let me know. Thank you so much! She has a friend in Loyalton where your family lived that remembers your grandfather. I told my mother I would put together the information you have given me and send it to her. She will then ask her friend. Can you give me some of the information you have and what you would like to know. Then I will send all of this to my mom. One thing I found was the draft registration for your grandfather. Do you have that? Hope to hear from you soon.
