French Gulch is located 21 miles northwest of Redding. You may want to contact the Shasta County Historical Society, P.O. Box 990277, Redding, CA 96099, as they are a pretty helpful bunch. Or you may want to contact the Postmaster of French Gulch at 530-359-2100 or 14200 Main Street, French Gluch, CA 96033. I have found small town Postmasters, for the most part, to be very helpful contacts.
