Hi everyone! Thought I'd finally post something on the new Shasta County List. I'm researching the above surnames. Here is my WILLIAMS line: William Wallace (or Wallace William) WILLIAMS (1830-1909), son of Aaron WILLIAMS. William was b. NY and died in Redding, Shasta, CA. He married first Margaret MITCHELL (ca. 1837-bef. 1880). Margaret was b. in IN or IL and probably d. in Shasta County. They had Horace Adelhert WILLIAMS (1856-1935) and Clarence E. WILLIAMS (ca. 1868-aft. 1909). William married #2 Lilly, widow of BRACKETT (ca. 1841-aft. 1909). They married after 1870. Lilly was b. NY. They had Charles WILLIAMS (b. ca. 1978-aft. 1909) and Jennie WILLIAMS (b. aft. 1880-aft. 1909). She possibly married a TUBBS? Lilly's children by BRACKETT were Edwin BRACKETT, Harry BRACKETT and J. W. BRACKETT. William came to CA in ca. 1858. He conducted a general merchandise store in Redding. Horace Adelhert WILLIAMS (above), b. Story, IA and d. in Redding. He married Hattie Marina DICKINSON (1859-1930) in 1878 in Shasta County. Hattie was b. French Gulch, Shasta, CA and d. Redding. They had Mary Augusta WILLIAMS who married a CRUTHIS, Bertha WILLIAMS who married Chester MULLIN, Clarence A. WILLIAMS who married Fanny, and Harry Orvall (Orville) WILLIAMS who married Eva Gertrude PEPPER. Horace came to CA when he was 2 years old. He was a Wells Fargo Stagecoach driver and was held up by BLACK BART 3 times. He drove stage up the canyon, from Redding to Yreka, and at another period had a route over Scott's mountain. He also worked for the Southern Pacific railroad and then in the grocery store owned and operated by A. F. SOUZA, Jr. Would love to hear from anyone researching any of these lines. Will send the Dickinson information in another e-mail. Denise Fort Hood, TX
